Isn’t it amazing how something as small as showing up late by one minute or traffic or even spilling something on your shirt can ruin the rest of your day?
Do you think you know why this is?
Do you think it’s because it annoys you?
Or do you think this is stress from the hours before or even the day/night before?
Stress is something that can stay in your system for many days.
It’s also something that you unknowingly be keeping at a high rate which will cause many issues in your body.
Let’s say work has been crazy, dogs barking, waiting until pay day, etc. and you think to yourself.
“I am going to go hard at the gym and do lots of workouts and maybe even throw in HIIT.” Or you think running makes me feel good, I will go run as long as possible.
What you are really doing is great at the time, however your body was at a high stress level prior and now when you leave the gym it will be just as high, if not higher.
You think running is a good stress reliever because when you run, you feel a runners high.. however when you are done, you crash from that and spike your cortisol/stressors again when you start thinking about life/financials/kids etc.
if you are feeling stressed all day or you did not sleep well or you’ve chugging caffeine all day to get you through the day, the best thing you can do is go in for a workout that will make you feel good. Pump workout, your favorite lift, some fasted cardio where you watch a funny movie or show.
However if you feel like your stressors are still sticking around.. put down the phone, take some deep breaths before bed or just in general, take a walk in the sun, look at nature, wear a green shirt, play some ball with kids or pups.
I promise you will feel better and if anything will lose some extra weight both physically and mentally.
Its almost impossible to get the results you want when you are stressed. I understand stress will always be there, but what are you willing to do to limit it?
Your body will thank you when you focus more on your brain at the time!
