What does this word mean to you?
Does it mean that everything has to be perfect?
Does it mean that what you did was just enough?
Or does it mean you have room for improvement?
I look at the word GOOD as something we know we can reach but it is not something we strive for.
The word GOOD is something you did just enough to reach the standard you thought was needed or you didn’t do enough , so good you have room for more improvement.
If you have ever listened to Jocko Willink explain the word GOOD, this is mostly why I think this.
But I also think this because growing up, when you did just enough in school or work or sports, it was almost obligatory for someone to say GOOD game.. not great game.
Why is that?
Is it something you knew you could do but you just didn’t do enough to get someone to say Great Job! Or Great Game!
Isn’t that what we want to hear from everyone when it comes to something we did?
If your boss tells you great job on that presentation or great job on leading that team, doesn’t that hit just a little different than good job.
GOOD allows us to analyze and understand what you/we need to do to get better.
You have to find the GREAT not GOOD in any situation and in life in my opinion.
When things are going bad: Don’t get all bummed out, don’t get started, don’t get frustrated. No. Just look at the issues and find out how you can be GREAT. So get up, dust off, reload, recalibrate, re-engage – and go out on the attack for GREAT
